It was snowing, and our day needed a pick me up after a long flight. So some friends picked us up and took us to Bandanas. I like judging BBQ places by their sauce and theirs doesn't disappoint. The meats are tender and full of flavor. Had the smoked links, tri tip, and ribs, no I didn't share...remember I just had a long flight. Great place with great service. STL has good BBQ joints and this is right up there with them.

Good selection a BBQ sauce and healthy portions on the plate for a reasonable price. It wasn't the best BBQ I have ever had but far from the worst. The service was very, very good from the hostess seating to the waitress serving. Food was prompt, hot and the atmosphere was nice and clean. Good solid meal that I would eat again.

Visited MO from California in July. Ate here twice. Both times were fabulous. They even made a lollipop bouquet from a bandana for my son's birthday. Will eat here again for sure next time we are in the area.

Decent BBQ - the spicy isn't that spicy but good mixes with the mustard sauce had the sausage, beef and turkey plate - turkey by far the best

Ok first let me start by saying that I am active duty military so I travel alot. While eating here I had the ribs platter and my son had the kids grilled cheese. The ribs were not the best I have ever had but they were really close they are for sure a close 2nd. My son very seldom eats all of his food but he ate every bite, to include the french fries. The waitress (Barbra) was one of the best I have ever had. She knew the menu in and out. She also know the ingredients of the 6 different bbq sauces on the table. When I asked if the they were local or a chain she even knew the history and what parts of the US they covered. This place is by far one of my new favorite bbq joints.

Great service, location close to the airport hotels, some of the best BBQ I have had you can't beat it! The only thing negative, the interior is pretty basic.

If your ever in St. Louis and have a layover stop by this BBQ joint! It's about three blocks away from the airport next to pear tree inn! Delish! My sweetie and I had takeout for lunch since we were staying at the inn and we loved it! My sausage was filling, potato warm and buttery, fries were crispy, and service was wonderful. The waitress that serviced us was very sweet and accommodating. He loved his meats and the beans as well. The two huge pieces of garlic bread was also divine! I'm so stuffed right now and ready for a nap! I definitely would visit this eatery again! I love BBQ!

Friendly and fast service. The bbq beef platter was lean and more tender than most briskets I've had...real southern sweet tea was very good and good fried okra. Try the boiled green peanuts.

I've had better and I've had worse, allow me to tell you in a little verse. OK, enough rhymes. BBQ was a little soft at times, mushy. Some good chunks, but with some mush. Great sauces. Had some fried green beans, pretty good, but also a little bready. The service is VERY friendly. Very nice staff, very attentive. Middle-of-the-road place on food. Nothing stood out as awesome, just pretty good. I'll come back, but I might explore different parts of the menu.

So I'm back on the Bandana-Wagon :-) My Director is in town and loves the food here, so I offered to pick up lunch for him. I ordered something for myself as well. Everything was delicious, as usual. If you read my earlier review, you'll see that I had a pretty negative experience concerning the service. Not this time. Everything was perfect. Great greeting at the door, prompt check out with my food. Nothing amiss. Thanks for a great experience...I'm passing it on.

Was better than exspected. Clean and friendly. Had the pork sandwich. Meat was tasty. Great sauces. Could of used better bread. Fries where so so. Overall satisfied and would return for a second try.

BBQ was okay- not as good as others I've had before. What was neat was they offered 5 different types of sauces you can choose from. I liked the spicy mixed in with the sweet and smoky.

I love meat. Love barbecue. I left most of the meat on my plate here. It was that bad. I hate to say this, as the server was really nice and attentive. The sides were very good. I would come here for the baked beans for sure. But that meat--a pork and beef combo--was just bad. I don't know if they use bad quality meat to start or if they microwave it or what, but even my grandma's "don't waste food" voice in my head wasn't strong enough to overcome this unappetizing meat.

  • Toni J.

The atmosphere was good. The waitress was friendly, but my kids were crabby from the long cross country trip and were looking to forward to milk and they were completely out. They didn't have any other selection except pop which my kids don't drink. My husbands ribs were good but my pork sandwich with sweet potatoes fries were not. My bun was very oily and soggy and my sweet potato fries tasted like mushy cheap fries you buy from the freezer section of the grocery store. We did give the waitress a really good tip for comp the kids drinks.

I love Bandana's. Excellent BBQ with all of the different variations. Bandanas also has stuff for kids and if you don't like BBQ (What are you doing here) they do have a few things on the menu like Chicken strips, Smoked Sausage, and Turkey for you. All have that open flame hickory taste. Great food and excellent BBQ flavor. Lastly, what service!!!! Extremely personable and southernly hospitable. I guarantee these girls serving you will make you feel right at home. Service is definitely a huge part of Bandana's mojo. I recommend everyone coming to St. Louis try it here!

The food and service were so great our first night here while in town for business, that we came back for more 2 nights later! Huge portions, not very expensive, quality is great, and service was phenomenal!

In my opinion, "nachos" made at a sit down restaurant should not be prepared in the microwave, as those that I ate here tonight . One- it hardens everything and makes the chips like plastic. Two- they really can't honestly describe them in the menu as "fresh chips" It may save the restaurant some prep time, but it results in a less than pleasant experience for the consumer

Great service and atmosphere in this place. I was served mediately. I ordered the Brunswick stew and it blew me away, so tasty and fresh. I'll be back for sure. Outstanding service from Amy Lee!!

First thing is my review of this BBQ place is not based their nachos nor the type of beer they have on tap. Service quick and friendly but did no come around enough. Atmosphere relaxing. Plenty of big-screen TVs to watch the game. I always judge a barbecue place by the ribs. The ribs here are kind of small so get the 1/2 rack. They are very tender with a very good flavor they do not need sauce. The coleslaw was just a little wet but a very good flavor also. The baked potato was normal size but it's the kind of baked potato that you can eat the whole thing skin and all. Sweet tea of course good. Garlic bread very good. Dutch apple pie for dessert not too sweet. I would eat here again for sure.

  • Mike A.

I been here lot. I've have eaten practically everything on the menu. Why! Because my employer put me up at the hotel next door...... That being said. GREAT! Great food, good variety if you like BBQ and the salads are always crisp. Service is good. No complaints here. Oh yeah.. Prices are reasonable they also have a $6 plate special. That even filled me up.

Great place to stop and eat barbecue near the St. Louis airport. The dry rub on the ribs was delicious. The sides were very tasty, and the service was spot on! I will definitely come back when I'm in this area.

ordered to go online; quick and as described; very helpful help checking me out; the ribs were delicious, but the sides and the bread was marginal...the only thing keeping me from giving it five stars. The sides I had was the corn and the applesauce...zest them up a little and they would be perfect

Absolutely the best BBQ around. The staff is super friendly and the food is awesome. Several BBQ sauces to choose from at the tables/bar. The portions are generous and always please.

Horrible service. Restaurant wasn't very busy for a Saturday afternoon and as we walked in the larger blond waitress said "sit anywhere and I'll clean your table." Our waiter (Christopher I think) was emotional less. No smile or anything... service was very slow as well. Food was meh. I had the pulled pork and fries. The BBQ sauce is really good, that's about it. I'd go elsewhere in the future if I'm ever back in St. Louis.

  • Robert T.

Meh.. Let me put it this way, if you've ever had Texas, Memphis, N. Carolina, or Kansas City barbeque save yourself the time and don't bother with St. Louis barbeque, as you will leave sorely disappointed. In fact, you might as well add Korean barbeque to that list too.. Would I choose Bandana's over a McRib sandwich, sure, yes, hence the two stars. Other things: Ample parking; reasonably priced; and our waitress was friendly, polite, and enthusiastic. Overview: Ribs were fair, chicken was dry, sausage was bland and without life, and the brisket was what it was (barbecued meat).

Found this place on Yelp and came based on the reviews. Enjoyed the pork plate lunch portion. Definitely get the fried green beans and try the spicy BBQ sauce! Great service too. Would have been 4 stars but they don't serve Coca Cola products.

Decent Bar-B-Q, with very generous portions. I wanted a hotter sauce available from the selections at the table, the 'spicy' was pretty mild. Service was very slow, and it was not a busy evening.

We went here for lunch today and from the outside it didn't look fantastic but as we walked through the door it smelled amazing. Wait staff was pleasant & attentive. We had 4-5 people stop by during our visit to make sure everything was great. I had a pulled pork BBQ sandwich southern style with slaw & fries. Prices were reasonable. I could have used a side of corn muffins like we get in VA. Pork was amazing so I'd recommend it.

I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. I expected typical BBQ place and in some ways it is but this place I felt was a step above the rest. I had chicken and the inside was cooked perfectly; moist and flavorful. The server recommended corn and I thought it was nice and sweet. The sweet potato fries were likely the best I ever had. They were moist on the inside crispy on the outside and not all soggy like a lot of sweet potato fries tend to be. The service was outstanding and she never missed a beat making sure I had a full drink. They had several BBQ sauces to choose from and they were different enough you'll want to try them all before settling down to your choice. I had the brownie dessert that I took back to my hotel and ate later but i it was too much chocolate and sweet for my taste. They must be used to having hotel guests there too because they didn't make me feel that eating for one was weird and there were several tables with one person. When visiting the area again I would certainly return here.

I flew into St. Louis for business and was hungry so I decided to pull out my phone and check out yelp to see what was near by. I knew St. Louis was known for BBQ so I wanted to see what the fuss was all about. I stumbled across Bandanas which I found out is a popular BBQ place all over MO. I tried there pork and beef plate which I will admit the meat was really good and tender I also liked the fact they had several sauces to choose from my favorite was the Spicy and Original the sides on the other hand were pretty sad. I had the Okra and fries which both were obviously frozen it also came with 2 pieces of garlic bread which were drenched in butter. Besides the sides this place was really good next time around I will have to try there ribs since they looked good.

Scrumptious smoked chicken, smoked pulled pork, beans, cole slaw, bread, spicy sauce, and french fries. We were starving the first night and devoured our meal in minutes. I'm always excited when the waitress says they are out of ribs because that tells me that their barbecue is smoked daily and not shipped from another location and reheated. That is why there was no reheated taste to the pulled pork. I had their wings one night and although they are good, they lose some of the smoke flavor because they are fried after smoking.

I was in town for business, decided to try this spot since it was close to the Marriott. I had the fried green beans, and chicken nachos for appetizers. For the entree I had the combination plate, beef and pork with garlic bread, potato salad, and baked beans. The food was great and the girls were pretty. The chicken in the chicken nachos was a bit too dry for my liking. The fried green beans were great, as was the pork and beef and sides. My server Joda was extremely helpful and helped me avoid wasting my money on appetizers that I was not going to enjoy (avoid the boiled peanuts). Overall, good food and a great staff.

Celiac (Gluten Free) Friendly!!! Most of the menu, including all the BBQ and sauces, is GF. I was there on a Sunday evening and it was pretty slow since it's near the airport. I had very good service, but the meat could have been warmer coming out of the kitchen. The price is right and the portions are decent-sized - but not over-sized. I plan to return when I'm in the area.

off airport location, convenient for travelers. now mind you, there's probably better bbq in st louis somewhere, and according to yelp, there is another place that begins with a P. However, I did not have the time or luxury to venture to those necks of the woods, and I needed to grab what I could before I continued along my business trip. Being from SF, Bandana is hands down the best bbq i have ever had, thus the 5 stars. the staff inside are friendly and hospitable...I certainly didn't mind being called "sweetie" and "honey" *giggle* i ordered the rack plate lunch, with the 2 sides, the meat was so tender juicy moist and fall off the bones, the variety of bbq sauce was just icing on the cake (or saucing on the ribs?), the sides were delicious as well, i loved the bbq baked beans! i will be stopping by before my flight to pick up a few slabs of ribs for folks back home in sf

Came here with a friend who is a local while I had a layover at the airport. We came here for lunch, we both got a two item combo with ribs and sausage with sides of greens and potato salad. What I liked is that they had a few different BBQ sauces you could try. I like my ribs drenched with sauce. Saint Louis ribs are usually dry rub only. I tried them alone, they were pretty tasty I must say. But after a few bites I had to add the spicy BBQ sauce they had at the table. I loved the garlic bread that came with my food, I could had probably ate like 5 pieces of those. Its hard to find a good BBQ place in California I must say. I wish they had a few joints like this out here in CA, it would beat the hassle of making ribs!

This place is near the airport in St. Louis next to the Pear Tree Hotel. It was down the street from the Drury Inn which is where my travel mates and I stayed. Since I was unable to get ribs at a competitors restaurant due to them running out, I had to go here to satiate my needs. I thought this place was pretty good. All meats are smoked. The menu has decent meal options from platters to a la carte if that's what you prefer. I ordered a 3 item plate to include Ribs and Turkey. 3 Ribs per item that gave me 6 ribs. They came hot, they tasted good and the seasoning was tasty. The turkey was moist (not dry) which surprised me in a good way. I only wished I could have more. They have 5 bbq sauces to choose from. I like spicy so that's the one I chose to use. The garlic toast was pretty good too. I ordered the green beans and they weren't anything special. I'm pretty sure they were canned beans. I could have lived without those. Nothing was too greasy which sometimes happen in places like this. The sweet tea was def. sweet and you are given free refills. The service was friendly...environment warm. If you stay nearby on a trip through St Louis, make sure to stop by and get some good ribs.

Thoroughly enjoyed the ribs here. Service is great, Barbara took care of me at the bar and they had college football on the Vizio on a Tuesday night. They do have a full bar.

While traveling out west, we wanted to have bbq in St. Louis. Bandana's did not disappoint. We had the lunch beef bbq with fried corn and potato salad. It also came with 2 pieces of garlic toast. The food was delicious!! We really liked the Chicago sweet sauce. We planned to stop again when traveling back through in a few weeks (and we did!).

Good BBQ! A very good experience in fact. So glad that the folks at the Marriott suggested them for dinner as I ended up buying several extra bottles of sauce to take home! Should make for some great BBQ's until I can get back! I had a two meat plate with sausage and beef and it was really tasty. Well cooked, moist, delicious, and everything I want in good BBQ. I really like that they let you apply your own sauce and do not have it already dripping and soaked with sauce. Five choices for sauces? Something for everyone to be sure. I really dug both the KC Style and the Chicago Sweet. The others were all ok, but these two really stood out. Sides were good. The potato salad was very good and the baked beans were flavorful, but a little too soupy for me. Service - ON TOP OF IT. Quick counter service. Friendly people who did not seem beaten down by life and they actually have personality and do not despise their jobs like a government MVD employee. Kudos to the entire team at Bandana's! And thx for dinner!

Bandana's is BBQ heaven. Pork, chicken, doesn't matter. Either way once its smothered in one of those Bandana sauces, it tastes fantastic. I usually do the pulled pork sandwich with a side of fries. Can't go wrong with that. The sweet tea is a little too sweet but good no the less.

I guess you could say...I can't judge this book by it's cover. I have never set foot in a Bandana's restaurant. This is an office favorite for lunch...I feel like we cater lunch from Banadana's almost once a month. I absolutely love their Hickory Smoked Turkey. And with one of their five different BBQ sauces, it's like trying a variation of the same thing five times. The meat is moist and deliciously smoky, just like any good BBQ should be. The tasty green beans are the only side I have sampled. I would say the beans are overly hydrated. They are so sloppy wet they fall apart. They don't taste bad, but I know they're not fresh. The green beans are the only side I've had because none of the other options look like something spiffed up enough to intrigue me (i.e. potato salad and BBQ baked beans).

  • Teri D.

Good 'cue for a chain, but they've raised their prices several times and decreased their portion sizes, so they've just about priced themselves out of my BBQ dollar. If I'm going to pay this much for 'cue, I'm going to go to Troy's to get premium BBQ for the same money as 'cue at Bandana's. Their garlic toast rocks though, I'll give them that, but their green beans are canned, their baked beans are not good at all and their cole slaw isn't as good as KFC.

Visited this Bandana's twice during a family vacation to St. Louis last week. Flying direct from SFO, we arrived in St. Louis very hungry. I had the pulled pork and ribs combo, both were delicious and cooked properly. There are a variety of sauces I tried before settling on the Chicago Sweet. I cleaned my plate, then proceeded to devour what remained of my wife's half-chicken platter. My 11-year old son polished off his half-rack of ribs. We considered this meal 5 stars, but maybe we were just hungry after the long flight, so we made a return visit a week later with my in-laws the night before our return flights. Same thing happened, son and I cleaned our plates and looked for scraps on other plates! Note the return visit was at night and the kitchen was down to its last two racks of ribs, but they were just fine and not dried out. Bandana's gets 5 stars. It is better than all the barbeque places in my hometown of San Jose.

This is some pretty satisfying BBQ. It is certainly not the best stuff out there but it fills you up and is very affordable. I usually get the choose two meats platter with the beans and some fries. They have a good variety of sauces but I usually stick with the hot or the original style sauce. The portions are pretty big and it can be a challenge to take down everything you are given. The wait staff is very nice and checks up on you at the appropriate level of intervals. This is one of the better food options out here near the airport so if you like BBQ and need a low key meal I would recommend checking this place out.

The food was great, when it finally arrived. We got there on a Saturday night around 6:15pm. It wasn't very busy and we were seated right away. We were in the middle of the restaurant facing the kitchen area in full view of all of the wait staff, but that didn't matter. It took our waiter at least 10 minutes to even take our drink order. When we asked about beers on tap, it was like I asked him a difficult math problem. He could only tell me three beers on tap and looked like he was straining to even get those out. Ok, fine. I told him we were ready to order. Ten minutes later with our drinks in hand, he finally took our order. Now we have been there for about a half hour, just put in our order. Then about 15 minutes later, a different waiter brings our food, because our waiter is apparently nowhere to be found. We ask for refills on our empty drinks. Food is great, but I had to flag down the hostess 15 minutes in to our meal to ask for our refills that still hadn't been refreshed. It was really a shame, because the food was great. It is a good reminder that service can really make or break meal experience. This left such a bad taste in our mouth that we will not return to this location.

Bandanas is the barbecue restaurant equivalent of Robert De Niro's character in the movie Jackie Brown: it used to be beautiful, and I'm not sure what happened. I knew something was up when I took a look at the menu, and I saw where they were trying to pull several tricks. It seemed odd to me that the Choose Two, i.e. the two meat platter, only cost $1 less than the Choose Three, and they both cost a bit more than I seem to recall them being. Clearly, the idea was to get you to spend at least $15, by making it so that if you want more than one kind of meat, you had to pay at least $14, and as long as you're gonna pay $14 you might as well pay $15 and get three different kinds of meat. You couldn't just buy that third portion of meat by itself for $1. I'm sure someone has tried. Bandanas must have had to jack up prices, because of the recession. That's not a very classy thing to do, even for a barbecue restaurant across the street from the airport. I usually just go with the ribs, which are the best thing you can get from Bandanas by far, and one of the very best things you could possibly eat, but this time I wanted to try a few different things, for the purposes of this review. I do this for the Internets, and also because I'm a gluttonous bastard. I went with the Choose Three, with the extra $1 worth of meat. In addition to the ribs (natch), I got chicken and pork. Notice I didn't refer to it as pulled pork. I'm not sure what exactly you would call it. I think Bandanas themselves just call it "pork." It's from a butt (i.e. a shoulder), I'm sure, but if you notice, you never get any of the ends from Bandanas, which are the best part. This seems odd, because you'd think someone would have to get the ends, unless they just discard them. They don't list them as a separate menu item and charge you extra for them like they do at some places. They must purposely dice their meat into oblivion, to make it more palatable to children and the kind of people who would complain that a steak had too much fat in it. And that's why they're the most popular barbecue chain in the area. Don't even get me started about the beef. What is that, anyway? It's not brisket. Is it pot roast that they smoke? Bizarre. Pointless. You get a quarter of a chicken - the leg and the thigh - with one of these combo meals, which I was kinda glad to see, because that breast and a wing section would probably be as dry as Mahatma Gandhi's flip-flop (but you could probably request "all white meat," if you like it that way), but I was also kinda upset, because IIRC they used to give you an entire half of a (not very big) chicken. Sitting in a smoker didn't seem to impart any more smoke flavor than half an hour or so on a Weber, but how bad can barbecue chicken possibly be? That's a trick question. Barbecue chicken is like pizza: it can't be bad. The other thing that disappointed me were the barbecue beans. I'm not sure if they've gotten worse, or it just seems like it because now I've tried the beans at Bogarts, which are what crack would be like if it was even better than it is, whereas Bandanas' beans taste like they come straight from a can, from the WIC shelf at Schnucks. It's probably the latter, and that's probably my real concern here. Bandanas was the shit back in that unfortunate span between Super Smokers and Pappys, but those days are over. Yeah, it's probably more convenient, unless you live downtown for some reason, but if you're gonna pay that much you might as well just go a few miles out of your way.

I checked in to the Renaissance and asked the night shift manager where I could grub down. She gave a few suggestions within stone throw distance, it was after 9, and Bandana's seemed like a good choice. Besides, the hotel shuttle would take me there! While being shuttled, the driver said to get the ribs...more on that later... The place is pretty chain looking, which was exactly what I needed. Familiarity, but with a bar + beer + bbq. I decided on getting a triple shot of meat product + sides: ribs, sausage, pork, green beans, and potato salad. Meat products were great except for the pork. The ribs: they were dry rub style and needed absolutely no sauce. Fall-off-the-bone + crisp caramalized outside = happiness. The sausage had tons of flavor and was something I think I had never tasted. The pork - meh - I can make way better pork butt. The green beans and potato salad were above average as I actually wanted to consume them. Finally, they give you a couple pieces of buttered and grilled slices of french bread. That tops off the meal. I'm not sure if I should give it lower marks for being a chain or if I should give it higher marks since it IS a chain. Anyhow, not bad and worth going to for the ribs.

I brought my team here (34 people) for our holiday lunch. I called a couple weeks in advance to let them know we were coming. They assured me they could accommodate such a large group. When we arrived, they were not fully prepared. Seems that there was a lack of communication. However, they were able to put us in a section just off the bar all by ourselves. They seated us within 5 minutes of our arrival. I've never been disappointed with the food at Bandannas and this location is no exception. I had the beef and pork plate with BBQ baked beans and fries. The portions are large and come with two pieces of garlic bread. For under $10 you can't beat it. The staff were very friendly, accommodating and efficient serving such a large group. They were very attentive. Given the initial unpreparedness I was skeptical of the service but they did not disappoint. My team had a great time and were very pleased with their lunch. I would definitely come here again.

Decent enough barbeque place. Food is very good and the staff is friendly. Last time I was there I had the pork sandwich. Very well done and the sauce was perfect. Prices can be a little higher for what you are getting, but not crazily out of range. The prices on alcohol can bite you too. Still, a good place to go eat though. Especially if staying in one of the many nearby hotels. Food choices are limited in that particular area, so Bandana's is very inviting!

It's BBQ ribs is flavorful and juicy, definitely would come back again if I am in the area. They have many different BBQ sauces, however the food is well seasoned and extra sauced would drown out the flavors.

The pulled BBQ pork was good and the variety of BBQ sauces was good (5 different types). It was definitely one of the best pulled BBQ pork dinners I had.

Well, my boss and I flew into the airport and had a few hours to spare - not that we needed a few hours because the service at this location was definitely prompt - however, a few people had recommended we try Bandana's for some Bar-B Q. I must say I was not disappointed by my first Bandana experience. This place had just about everything I expect from my personal taste of Bar-B Q. The atmosphere was kind of bar like, but comfortable neighborhood bar I'd say - slightly dark, a few TV's (most likely playing whatever local sport is in season) and if I remember correctly, they might have had some light music on in the background - possibly some blues (and what goes better with Bar-B Q than blues, well, maybe a beer). So after being seated, we were promptly greeted by our server and had beverages served right away. The choices on the menu were definitely substantial - pulled pork, beef brisket, smoked chicken, smoked turkey, ribs, sausage links - all that you could possibly want. The selection of sides was pretty decent too. I went with the pulled pork with a side of baked beans and some slaw. Not to mention you get two MAMMOTH pieces of garlic toast to go with your meal as well. I'd say the quality of the meat was pretty decent - the smoked flavor was fantastic - OH I am a fan of the restaurants that DO NOT put sauce on, and you get to put it on yourself - so I was quite happy with that. After tasting the pulled pork for itself, I had to go around and dabble and dribble a little of each sauce on the meat. I was pretty happy, I won't say they were the best sauces that I ever had, but I really did like them - one new one I had was the Chicago style sauce, sweet, sassy, and a little bit of pineapple in it as well. I did enjoy that one for it's uniqueness. The beans and slaw were satisfying as well, I'd rate them as average. So all in all, I am a fan of this place - I'll definitely go back next time I am in town.

Was in St. Louis for the night and decided to try some Kansas City style BBQ. Overall, I didn't think it was anything special. Growing up in Texas, I've been lucky enough to try some of the best BBQ joints in the country like the Salt Lick in Driftwood, TX. I thought the atmosphere was pretty laid back and good for coming with a group of friends. There's tvs around the place so you can catch a game along with some BBQ. I had the combo plate with beef and shredded pork with cole slaw and fried okra as sides, oh and a single rib. They also include two pieces of toasted garlic bread. All the meats are served naked (no sauce), but they have 5 different BBQ sauces on the table. In my opinion, I rank the sauces in this order from best to worst: 1. Original 2. Sweet and Smoky 3. Chicago Sweet 4. Kansas City 5. Spicy. Usually, I love a spicy BBQ sauce but this one wasn't very good. The spices were a bit off. Overall, I'd come here again, but it wouldn't be a place I'd rave about to others.

We were staying next door and gave Bandana's a try because they were close. But we were definitely glad we took a chance. I got a sampler that included chicken, ribs and sausage. All 3 were excellent and good sized portions. My son is extremely picky and he loved his chicken. I wasn't blown away by the sides but the meat would make me return in a heartbeat. VERY friendly service too.

I'm happy to say that my visits to this Bandanna's since my first have been much, much better. Food was much better. Service was fantastic. Ahhh, this is the Bandanna's I remember.

I wasn't quite sure what to make of this place when it was recommended to me. Sometimes places like this, buried between two hotels in an otherwise nondescript area, can be more hype than quality. Not so here. It was relatively quiet when we came in, but the service didn't suffer. Our server gave us plenty of time to peruse the menu and ask questions. The ribs were the most touted choice, but I opted for the chicken. I wasn't disappointed. On the table were about six different kinds of sauce labeled so as to figure out which was a favorite. The side items are traditional and overall, ordinary. The donut holes are a unique dessert item at a place like this, but it worked. The bbq platters came in a regular and a lunch portion, and it's easy to add another choice of meat to either if you don't want the commitment for a full portion. The sauces were not necessary as the meat stood on its own for flavor. I'd try this place again when I'm in the area. Because it's close to the airport, it would be a good stop on the way to or from when I'm running short on time. It's still better than most airport food.

Very good ribs before a flight out! Prompt and friendly service. Frank greeted, seated and assured me of their speedy service. He took my order too...so that I didn't have to wait for my server. Thanks, Frank, for getting me fed and on my flight with time to spare! I'll be back!

Was down here on business a few weeks back and just had to say what terrific barbecue it is! Had the pork sandwich and an assortment of other things and enjoyed every bite immensely! Very much recommend going here.

Pretty good BBQ! I had the three meat platter with cole slaw. The pulled pork is perfect; the smoked sausage is excellent, too. The beef was disappointing, though. It's a shoulder cut, rather than brisket. That caused me to knock a star off of the rating. Excellent sauces and good slaw. I will definitely be back to substitute ribs for the beef. All in all, pretty darned good...but that beef is disappointing. Just saying. Definitely worth another shot!

Got the 1/3 rack w two sides to go. Didn't have to wait long at all and even though I got sauce, I didn't need it. Great meal. No complaints. Cool post saying 25 ways to use a bandana. Read them while I waited. Great location if you're by the airport.

All BBQ is Guuud. I've tried every kind of BBQ~ Armenian to Korean and EVERY style in the ol USA. What makes St Louis the single greatest BBQ place on earth is its blending of all styles with the freshest of meat. USA BBQ is definitely the most diverse mix-- even with the argument what "grilling" is.. Here, in St. Louis, a dry rub can lay near a rack of molasses's sweetened Hickory. I have never been to bad St Louis BBQ:( Pappy's, Rib Shack Smoki O's) but Bandana's I frequent the most for it's proximity to the air port. The Ribs never disappoint and the pulled pork sandwich always make lunch worthwhile-- I appreciate the different sauces and usually try the all each time i go. I provided a 4 out of 5 because I never have experienced dinner rush there, nor the bar. My service has always been excellent and the prices fair-- (yes I could eat more..) Bandana's always leaves a smile on my face (as well as some extra sauce...)

I travel with a group of 4 other friends and every year we visit a city to eat BBQ. This year took us to St. Louis. Bandana's Bar-B Q turned out to be our first stop simply because we were starving and it was across from our hotel. Generally, we are not a fan of "chain" places. This place is a chain (local) but still we could only give it average ratings. They had a good selection of sauces to sample, the ribs were very good but not amazing. The hot link was very good I must say but the pulled pork, beans and slaw were overall forgettable. Spent the time and go to Pappy's if you want the best St. Louis has to offer.

Similar to Jerry J's review I asked the shuttle bus driver of my rental car company where to go and he pointed me to this place. It was alright but like Erich Z said there really isn't much to it. I tried one of the combos that came with chicken, ribs and sausage based off of the bartenders recommendation and it was decent. I liked the sausage the most, although I must admit I love most smoked sausage. The chicken was decent but nothing like what she said it was going to be like. As for the ribs I didn't really care for them that much. I got three ribs with this combo and of them 2 were dry and not all that impressive and the third was moist and actually had some meat on it. I also had the beans and the coleslaw based on her recommendation and those were both pretty solid. Overall, it was a decent quick dinner. I basically sat down asked her what I should order and within 5 mins I had my beer and food. So if I was around the airport and wanted a quick bite it might work but I would hope there is something better around.

Considering the location right next to my hotel this tuesday night, I'd say I lucked out. There wasn't anywhere else that I could see in walking distance and I was far too tired and lazy to call a cab or have an adventure. Plus I could smell the wood smoke drifting over across the parking lot. I grew up eating award-winning local barbeque in Florida, and this place reminded me of this favorite hometown joint, from the decor down to the thick smoke rings and bark on the brisket. A stereotypical, cliche bbq place through and through. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Brisket and pork were delicious; the real deal. Sides were well done and the garlic bread, a must at any bbq place in my book, was great. They offered a good selection of sauces, which I think was nice of them. Given the geography, I'd figured it would be KC-style only, but the variety they offered was impressive. Not a bad find at all.

Great little BBQ Spot. Dined here twice during a weeks stay at a nearby hotel.I had the chicken and rib platter both times....wth the Kansas City Sauce. Truly finger licking good, and the mgr and staff were very nice.

So Bandana's is classified a "chain BBQ" restaurant... but it's a chain restaurant that only exists within the boundaries of STL as far as I can tell, so it's not like it's an Applebee's or anything like that. The BBQ is cooked in house and they have their own in house BBQ sauces. Having experienced a lot of KC BBQ before, the STL style of meaty ribs at Bandana's was a refreshing change. I particularly liked the mustard based sauces rather than the typical sweet heat ones. It was fun to try out all of the different BBQ sauce offerings with the 5 squeeze bottles at the table. Anyways, I wouldn't rate the BBQ here as legendary, but it's not bad for a chain BBQ joint.

There are two kinds of diners out there - those that prefer the consistency of a chain restaurant, and those that prefer a more authentic local restaurant. I'm a foodie of the latter persuasion, and Bandana's is a chain restaurant. It's the Big Boy of BBQ. I like my BBQ to be fresh, moist, and with a kicking sauce. Bandana's serves up BBQ that tastes a bit stale, and gives you a choice of their 4 house sauces, which are at the table for you to choose from. The meals are not poorly priced - about $10 for your choice of two meats and two sides. To me, there really should be only one sauce for a BBQ - the kind that has a recipe guarded from prying eyes. The 4 sauces at Bandana's tasted like something I could find at the local grocer. I was disappointed because I went looking for some good authentic Bar-B-Q, and didn't find it here.

Not bad for a local BBQ joint. Good service, fast. Been doing here every other day for two weeks while I stayed in a nearby hotel for business.

We arrived at the Hampton Inn across the parking lot from Bandana's 10 minutes before this place closed. Check in was done super quick so we could run over and order. We're used to Chicago - you walk in 5 minutes before a place closes and they tell you BYE BYE. Well NOT HERE. They graciously allowed us to peruse the menu, I explained that this was a TO GO order since they were closing, and they said NO WORRIES. They went over all the items we asked about, allowed me to have a much needed beer after the long drive and while they were preparing our meals AND took the time to wrap things separately for our different hotel rooms. Service - FANTASTIC. FOOD - above FANTASTIC. I ordered the BBQ Chicken (or turkey, I can't remember) sandwich and there were actually chunks of meat - LARGE chunks of meat. HUGE chunks. It was like I was home! The dressings were great and everyone had a great meal. Thanks again ya'll. YOU WERE GREAT!

The best barbeque I've had in a long time. I had the pork platter with potato salad and baked beans. Everything was delicious! The garlic bread is an added bonus. Great service too. Loved the sweet and smoky sauce and the original was good too but honestly, the meat was good without sauce.

I came to Bandana's on the recommendation of the hotel shuttle driver, who comes once a month for a slab to take home. Place is very convenient to the airport; just take the Airport Marriott shuttle, and walk next door. Looks like a standard fast food "diner" except it has a nice western style and very friendly service. We split a slab of dry rub. Very neat and tasty, lots of appropriate smoky taste, meat tender and yet firm. The fried green beans were just ok, but the potato salad was really tasty. Better than Calhoun's, in Knoxville! but in the end I think I prefer the bigger standard sized ribs (with rib tips and cartilage) that I know from Flints and Everett and Jones.

Good barbecue, sports bar atmosphere. Very simple and tasty when you need to eat. The fried okra is fresh and hot to order. The beer selection is limited, but that's ok. Usually good service, I'd eat here again.
